Best 3 delicious green smoothies for your taste buds and your body

No one can deny the immeasurable love I have for green smoothies. In fact, they are the perfect solution for the lazy gourmand in me since they are generally extremely nutritious and easy to prepare (just blend it all together, t’sé).

After several months of trying a multitude of recipes found on Pinterest, I wanted to bring out the cordon-bleu in me (not) by starting to create (improvise a mix from the leftover food in my fridge) new recipes. So I wanted to share this passion (and my undeniable culinary talent) with you in this article by offering you 3 ideas for green smoothies that are as good to taste as they are for your health. By the way, these three recipes are entirely raw, vegan, soy-free, peanut-free and gluten-free!

1 The Classic

1 cup (250 ml) coconut water
½ cup (125 ml) mango juice
400 g green apple cut into small cubes
2 cups (70 g) romaine lettuce
2/3 cup (18 g) fresh parsley
1/3 cup (15 g) fresh coriander or mint leaves
½ cup (70 g) frozen mango
¼ cup (50 g) avocado
4 teaspoons freshly squeezed lemon juice (or to taste)
12 g turmeric root
As many ice cubes as desired

Thanks to the fats that give the avocado its silky texture, this smoothie is a rich source of monounsaturated acids, which has a positive effect on cardiovascular function. In addition, the avocado contains a large quantity of phytosterols that help lower bad cholesterol levels. On the other hand, this green smoothie helps to fight inflammation, as the turmeric plant has been proven to be a destructive agent for aches and heartburn.

2 The kick-in-the-ass

½ cup (125 mL) freshly squeezed grapefruit juice
1 cup (25 g) kale or baby spinach
1 (200 g) red apple, cut into small cubes
1 cup (130 g) chopped cucumber
1 large stalk (85 g) chopped celery
3 or 4 tablespoons (30 to 40 g) of Hemp Hearts (or any brand of hemp seeds peeled to taste)
1/3 cup (55 g) frozen mango
2 tablespoons (4g) fresh mint leaves
1 tablespoon and ½ coconut oil (optional)
As many ice cubes as desired

The hemp seeds contained in this green juice are an excellent source of protein and fibre, as well as offering a significant amount of omega 3, a precursor to low blood triglycerides and lower blood pressure. In addition, the mint leaves in this smoothie support the digestion and weight loss process. Mint actually allows for an easier absorption of nutrients and metabolization of fat into energy. Grapefruit helps prevent certain cancers and other chronic diseases because it contains flavonoids (antioxidant compounds) that neutralize free radicals in the body.

P.-S.: The acidic taste of grapefruit is particularly pronounced in this smoothie. So don’t hesitate to replace its juice with orange juice or coconut water, depending on your preference.

3 The Warrior

1 cup (250 ml) unsweetened almond milk
1 cup (35 g) baby spinach
1 frozen banana
1/3 cup (55 g) frozen mango
¼ cup (6 g) fresh mint leaves
2 tablespoons and ½ (20 g) protein powder (to taste)
2 teaspoons (8 g) chia seeds
2 cubes (30 ml) wheatgrass
¼ of teaspoon of cinnamon

This last juice is rather spicy, especially because of the cinnamon. That being said, many health benefits have been demonstrated with the consumption of this flavouring, such as a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. Indeed, cinnamon is a food that lowers the level of bad cholesterol and triglycerides circulating in the blood. On the other hand, wheatgrass is a recent discovery for me and I must admit that at first, the taste may seem a little strange. However, its juice contains a rich amount of minerals and vitamins (A, B, C, E, I and K) in addition to providing a rich supply of protein (17 amino acids).
