5 Tips for disappearing from the Internet
You’re tired of seeing your name all over the internet, and you want to disappear from the web for good. We prefer to warn you: it is almost impossible to be totally absent from the web, as your name may be cited by official publications or pages that have mentioned you.
That said, you can always do your best to erase the traces of your online activity, as we will explain in this article entitled Five tips to disappear from the internet.

1 – Delete your accounts on social networks
Here’s the B.A.-BA: Delete all your profiles on social networks. If you want to appear as little as possible on the internet, it’s best to delete all the accounts you’ve opened on Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and any other platforms you may have used, even briefly – it happens to everyone. Social networks are the main sounding board in our daily lives; if you want to appear incognito on the internet, delete them.
2 – Deactivate your profiles on websites
It is likely that you registered on an online forum using your real name. If this is the case, it turns out that all the discussions you have participated in are indexed by the network. You will therefore need to delete all personal profiles you have created on web pages. This includes forums, dating sites, services where you have to enter your real name, etc…
This is even more important if you used your real name to register. If, on the contrary, you have entered a nickname, it will be much more difficult (but not impossible, unfortunately) to identify yourself.

3 – Google, this bug
When we were talking about deleting our accounts from social networks, we were reminded of this: Google is at the origin of a large number of services that we use on a daily basis. Do you go to YouTube to watch videos? That’s Google. You use Drive to store files online? So does Google. And so on and so forth. There are a few services you’re not ready to do without (like Gmail), but for others, it’s time for the end clapper.
The less you appear, the less your personal data will be accessible on the internet. It’s as simple as that.
4 – E-commerce sites, too
We are forced to address a sensitive point: e-commerce sites tend to accumulate a lot of personal information about their customers. If you really want to disappear from the internet, the best thing to do is to eliminate your profiles. In other words, you will have to delete your accounts on the major e-commerce sites. Of course, in theory, the personal data hosted by these sites are protected, but in practice, this is not always the case. Try doing a Google search with your name and the name of the site in question, to get a clearer picture. You might be in for a surprise…

5 – Delete all URLs you see
To close this tutorial, we come back to what we said at the beginning of the article: it is virtually impossible to erase all traces of its presence on the Internet. But at least we can try. Google has set up a page to eliminate all URLs that may mention you and that you consider harmful. Beware, the search engine will only execute your query if the page that mentions you infringes your rights. If your name appears legitimately on an official document related to a grant, aid, training, etc., there is not much you can do about it.
